Welcome to the world of imagination, art, and music known as animation. This is a beautiful skillset to have. Picture making shorts, movies, music videos, tutorials or whatever you want without having to employ a whole staff, beg friends and family to help you out, and be able to do all of that with the most minimal of budgets. In this world, the only currency you need is knowledge and creativity.
This book is going to break down how you can become a better animator than me. You will learn the blueprint to the highest level of artistry. With this skill, you can be anybody you want. How about being five people at the same time? You can do that. Your limitation is nonexistent. Whatever your mind can perceive can be drawn and animated.
Your only investment will be a solid computer. Don’t cheap out on this investment. These artistic programs need horsepower. It will be better to get a used powerful computer than to get a brand new cheap, weak computer. To be honest, you can get a powerful, used computer for a great price on Ebay or Amazon. You will get more bang for your buck if you get a Windows computer. If you can afford a Mac, that’s great.
If you are someone who already has a decently powerful computer, or you have a budget for the good stuff, you are blessed, and your path will be easier. But I want this book to benefit everybody who is interested in becoming a 2D animator regardless of their budget. That is why I included free options to all the software that will be needed on your journey.
You will also need a USB microphone, some headphones, and possibly a digital drawing tablet. You can get a drawing tablet to hook up to your computer with its own screen for as little as $200 on Amazon. Some Windows laptops are drawing tablets like the Lenovo Yoga series, the Microsoft Surface, and the Samsung Galaxy Book series to name a few.
This is everything you need to go on your new journey. You can dive right in now. This artform is very forgiving. Whether you are in the beginning stage or a seasoned vet, you will be able to produce some work. Now, let’s get into the thick of things.
